The standard specifies the properties that clothing designed to visually signal the presence of the user must have in order to detect and see him in dangerous conditions, in all lighting conditions during the day and at night and in the light of car headlights. Three classes of signal clothing are defined. The clothing must consist of a surface of fluorescent material and reflective material, or it may consist of a material with combined properties.
